Thank you for spreading the word

At Naked Sprout, we want to make the UKs toilets more sustainable by bringing down the CO2e, bleach, and harsh chemicals in every sheet of toilet paper. With the average UK resident getting through around 127 toilet rolls a year, it’s a big task.

Luckily, we’re not going it alone.

From glamping sites to school presentations, our customers are spreading the word about their funny brown coloured toilet paper in all sorts of wonderful ways. Today we want to celebrate our community, and thank them for their support.

Here’s how we’re reclaiming the sheets!

Naked Sprout at work

First up, we are incredibly proud of the many businesses that have chosen Naked Sprout to help reduce their environmental impact.

From toilet paper in bed and breakfasts, to tissues in church halls, to engineers using kitchen rolls to fit boilers, customers who bulk buy toilet roll with us are helping to spread the word. We’ve know of glamp-site bathrooms made from converted horse boxes that showcase our rolls, and makeup artists using our hypoallergenic tissues backstage in London theatres.

One of more high profile customers is ClientEarth. This team of dedicated lawyers represent the best interests of our planet in legal battles targeting corporate greenwashing and pollution, and they’re using Naked Sprout in their London office. A weird thing to be proud of, perhaps, but we’re very proud all the same!

The younger generation

We also owe a huge thank you to the younger generation. We’ve been blown away by the emails we’ve received from school pupils and teachers who are choosing to include our distinctive brown eco toilet paper in discussions and presentations about the environment.

In January this year we heard from Freya, who wanted to speak about Naked Sprout at her school’s Eco Senedd and asked for more information about our renewable energy so that she could share it with her classmates. We were delighted to get back to her about the sheep poo and twigs that we use for our biofuel, and we hope that the presentation went really well!

And Freya isn’t alone in her efforts to spread the word; we also recently received an email from one customer, Julianne, whose daughter Eva received a special “fantastic fascination” award at school for her vocal support of unbleached toilet paper. How cool is that?

One story that touched our hearts came from Stuart, a customer who told us that his 11 year old grandson (also named Stuart) “took a shine” to our funny brown coloured toilet rolls on a visit to his granddad and ended up pinching quite a few when he went back home. We sent some free rolls so young Stuart had his own!

Guerrilla loo roll

Now, this is where things get really creative. We already go to great efforts to make sure that our products aren’t going to waste - with recycling for miss-made rolls that can’t be used, and donations to charities and food banks for ones that can.

After a recent newsletter about our blooper rolls we heard back from one customer who’s taking direct action to spread the word. Inspired by guerilla gardening, where people reclaim small patches of unused public soil to plant food and flowers, Lisa Anne has taken the opportunity to get some unbleached sheets of toilet tissue out into the world.

"I currently have 2×96 boxes of live rolls in my house because I over ordered … your team sorted my subscriptions out and I’m grateful.
You’ve heard of guerilla gardening? I know guerilla loo roll … every time I go out, I take one in my bag and leave it in a public lavatory, restaurant or library!🤣
Sometimes I even write a little message on it "

What a way to deal with an oversupply!

Lisa Anne, we salute your enthusiasm and generosity. Guerrilla loo roll may just be the new movement we didn’t know we needed.

Heartfelt thanks

There’s a famous quote from the anthropologist Margaret Mead, who reminds us:

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it's the only thing that ever has."

We have always hoped that our distinctive products will spark conversations and curiosity. We couldn’t be more delighted with how our customers pick up that baton and run with it.

To every person who has ever mentioned Naked Sprout in a conversation, placed a roll in a public loo, included us in a school presentation, or shared our products with family and friends - thank you. Your support provides the (renewable!) fuel that fires us up to make more changes every day.
